UNCUT: An Open Letter To A-QuEST Parent, Dennis Chung

Dennis, this is Jamaica, 2025—not 1985. We see through the fog. And this appointment? It reeks of manipulation, not merit.

I say this with respect, not hostility. I coached your child. You’re part of the A-QuEST family. Like the families of Aung, Chang, Chan, Chen, Chin, Chu, Chuck, Chung, Foo, Fu, Fung, Guo, Han, Ho, Ho Sang, Hong, Huang, Kong, Lai, Lee, Lee-Chin, Lue, Lym, Pang, Phang, Wan, Wang, Wong, Yee, Ying, Yip, Yook, You, Young, Yu, and Zhang—families I’ve coached, worked with, hired, even married into—you are kin. We’ve stood for merit, integrity, and nation-building together.

That’s why this cuts deep. You’re a fine accountant, but the head of the Financial Investigations Division must have a proven investigative track record—interviewing witnesses, managing informants, applying financial crimes law. You do not.

And worse—your public dismissal of the Integrity Commission’s report into the PM’s 28 bank accounts? That disqualifies you from being seen as neutral. The quiet rewriting of the job criteria insults the intelligence of every Jamaican citizen and foreign partner watching.

Dennis, this is your fork in the road. Step back from the cliff. Say no. Do not become the convenient fall guy for a prime minister who now sees state agencies as personal shields.

“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches” (Proverbs 22:1). Keep yours.

Reverse course, Brother. Reclaim your dignity. Let the nation remember you not as the man who took the poisoned chalice—but the one who passed it up for something greater: honour.

Thank you for the benefit of your time.
