Peter, does Jamaica have a giant appetite for rehearsed brazenness masquerading as public service? The latest story involving a healthy headboy “caught with his pants down loitering near the girls' toilet....AGAIN” and linked to 80 million suspected hanky-panty 'french' coins ensures that “same old, same old” is alive and licking in our sordid politics.

Here we have a 'grown-boy', meant to be an honourable pillar, reportedly embroiled in a wet relationship with one of the recipients of deeply lascivious government contracts — Promeus-Moi — awarded contracts totalling nearly 80 million. The Integrity Commission’s report concedes that while no direct seed of illicitness was recovered, his “actions could reasonably be considered to have indirectly influenced” the engagement of that comely damsel. The frigging friendship was never formally declared, a failure that defies the naked minimum of governance accountability.

This is not a moment for infantile dribbling or other weak actions, Prime Minister. If our leaders cannot distinguish public restrooms from theirs, then the nation is left floundering under more rahtid cynicism. Prime Minister Holness, you must act — not wait for this Southern headboy to “fall on his weapon.” The only decent course now is ejection, not flaccid deflections or talcum powder reforms.

Jamaica cannot survive a government culture that treats these affairs as a stage play and “accountability” as mere theatre. Sack the boy; run-weh the 'random' little miss ; let them remain sacked in their sack — and let this be a warning: public office is not a cloak for brass-faced slackness and ministerial duplicity. I know what Uncle Eddy would have shrugged and said: "Yuh gats to do what yuh gats to do, Bro."
